Google's Search Unveils Advertising Explosion

Google has planned to organize the world's information and turn online searching much easier that is proving to be a benefit for advertisers. Google's vice president for search products Marissa Mayer, who will be visiting Australia for the Search Marketing Expo in Sydney, said that the company had changed significantly since she became the company's 20th employee in the year 1999. "It was very messy. They couldn't even afford a cleaning crew," she said. "There were computer parts all over the office. We even printed our own business cards."

Today, Google employs more than 16,900 people in 28 countries. While most people think Google's conquest is due to its search technology, its financial success has come from online advertising. But before it could attract advertisers, it had to attract as many users. "A lot of people didn't think that search was something which mattered deeply," Ms Mayer said. "No one was putting a lot of energy, time or resources behind making it really great."
