Google has updated Google maps app for iPhone and iPod touch with new local search icon on Tuesday. This is the first update of Google in subject to the great response of ten million users in two days to the updated Maps software on Apple’s platform. Latest features in Google Maps version 1.1 for iOS comprise addition with Google Contacts, local search icons which helps to search the places faster and easier.
Besides to Google Contacts combination and quicker local searching, this update also lets you decide between kilometers and miles in the app’s settings menu.
Google Contacts is currently included into the iOS version of Google Maps. It helps you to save your contacts by sign in with your Google account. Then if you search your friend’s name, Google will show them as a search results. In addition to that if you want to view your friends address then tap their name to see the address, which will not visible to others it kept back confidential.
- Search your Google Contacts; sign in to have your saved addresses show up when you search for friends and family by name.
- Quickly search for local places by selecting popular categories such as restaurants, bars, cafes, gas stations, etc.
- Choose between Kilometers or Miles for your preferred distance units.
- Note that some features may not be available in all countries.
This app is now available free from App Store with the English version in 7 countries includes Bahrain, Egypt, Lebanon, Oman, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates.
